The New Zealand Advantage

Why investors look at New Zealand

Beyond the visa, you gain access to a stable, safe, English-speaking country, for you and the generations after you.

Political and Legal Stability

A safe, politically stable, English-speaking democracy with strong rule of law, and a genuine second base for your family.

Residence for the Family

Your partner and dependent children aged 24 and under can be included in your application, with access to New Zealand healthcare and education.

Minimal Stay Required

As little as 21 days onshore across three years in the Growth category, so you can keep your business and life abroad while you qualify.

Your Capital Stays Yours

Your investment is not a fee paid to the government. It goes into acceptable investments that you continue to own. Investment performance, and the risk that goes with it, is a matter for you and your own financial adviser.

Is This You?

Built for serious global investors

If you have the capital and you are looking for security, lifestyle and a second home for your family, the Active Investor Plus Visa is worth looking at closely.

  • Business owners and entrepreneurs seeking a global base
  • Investors in Dubai, the GCC, Asia and beyond wanting a second base
  • Families prioritising safety, education and lifestyle
  • High-net-worth individuals planning a second residence

Who can lawfully advise you

New Zealand law is strict about this. Outside a handful of exemptions, only a licensed immigration adviser or a New Zealand lawyer can lawfully give advice on, or lodge, a New Zealand visa application, even from overseas.

Suman Dua holds that licence, IAA 202600739, and is also an Australian Registered Migration Agent, MARN 1800859. That means your New Zealand application and your Australian position can be handled together, lawfully, by one accountable adviser.

Ask any adviser for their licence number before you share your financial information. You can check it on the Immigration Advisers Authority public register.

Dual-Licensed. Genuinely Qualified to Advise.

Why Nationwide Migration

The stakes are high. Your adviser should match them.

A NZD $5 million to $10 million application is not a DIY project. One error in source-of-funds evidence or investment structuring can cost time, money and the visa itself.

We bring meticulous, end-to-end management, clear communication at every milestone, and both Australian and New Zealand licensing, so whether your future is across the Tasman or on both sides of it, you are advised properly and lawfully.

Questions, Answered

Active Investor Plus Visa FAQs

What's the difference between the $5M and $10M options?
The $5M Growth category requires higher-growth investments, being managed funds and direct investment into NZ businesses, held for 3 years, with at least 21 days onshore. The $10M Balanced category allows a wider, lower-risk mix, including bonds and new property developments, held for 5 years, with at least 105 days onshore. We will talk through which fits your situation at your consultation.
How long until I get residence?
The Active Investor Plus Visa is a direct pathway to New Zealand residence for applicants who meet the requirements. Timeframes depend on your investment transfer, your evidence, and Immigration New Zealand's processing. Processing times are set by Immigration New Zealand and no adviser can speed them up. We will point you to the current published timeframes at your consultation.
Can my family be included?
Yes. Your partner and dependent children aged 24 and under can be included in your application, with access to New Zealand's healthcare and education systems.
Do I have to live in New Zealand full-time?
No. One of the visa's biggest advantages is the minimal stay requirement, from at least 21 days across 3 years in the Growth category, or at least 105 days across 5 years in the Balanced category, so you can keep your business and life abroad.
Is my investment just a fee to the government?
No. Your capital goes into acceptable investments in New Zealand, such as managed funds, businesses, bonds or qualifying property developments, and you continue to own it. It is not a payment to the government. What those investments do, and the risk you take on, is a matter for you and your own financial adviser.
Can I count a house purchase toward my investment?
No. This is a common misunderstanding. Since the September 2025 announcement, Active Investor Plus visa holders are permitted to buy or build one home in New Zealand with a minimum value of NZD $5 million. That is a separate entitlement. It does not form part of, or reduce, the NZD $5 million or NZD $10 million you must place in acceptable investments.
Do you give investment or financial advice?
No. We are immigration advisers, not financial advisers. We advise on the visa requirements, on what counts as an acceptable investment under Immigration New Zealand's rules, and on how to evidence your source of funds. Decisions about where to place your money, and the risk you take on, should be made with your own qualified financial and legal advisers.
Why do I need a Licensed Immigration Adviser?
By New Zealand law, immigration advice can only be provided by a Licensed Immigration Adviser, or an exempt person such as a New Zealand lawyer. We are licensed, IAA No. 202600739, so the advice you receive is lawful and the adviser is accountable to a regulator. Always ask for a licence number before you engage anyone.
