Two Sides, One Practice

We Act for Both Employers and Workers

For Brisbane Employers

  • Become an approved Standard Business Sponsor
  • Run compliant Labour Market Testing
  • Lodge a strong nomination with the right occupation, salary and evidence
  • Understand and meet your sponsor obligations, so you stay compliant
  • Calculate the SAF levy and other costs correctly

For Skilled Workers

  • Confirm your occupation and eligibility
  • Check your work experience, English and skills assessment requirements
  • Manage your 482 application and plan for the 186 where it may apply
  • Advise on regional (494) options where they may suit your situation

Sponsoring an overseas worker is a three-step process with ongoing obligations, and we check that you are on the right visa and the right pathway from the start. We do not find or arrange employers or sponsors. An employer-sponsored visa requires a genuine job offer from an eligible sponsoring business.

Where we act for both the sponsoring business and the visa applicant, we tell each of you in writing about the potential conflict of interest before we act, and we ask each of you to confirm in writing that you still want us to act.

Brisbane Practice

Why the Detail Matters

Employer-sponsored visas are technical. The wrong stream, an occupation caveat, a salary below the market rate, or a missed Labour Market Testing window can sink an application. As a Brisbane practice that does this work every week, we look for these issues before they cost you time and money.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

It is not mandatory, but the 482, 186 and 494 process is technical and involves sponsorship, nomination and visa stages plus ongoing employer obligations. A registered agent helps you get the detail right at each stage and keeps everyone compliant with their obligations.

Yes. A lawfully operating Brisbane business can become a Standard Business Sponsor and nominate a skilled worker for a 482 or 186 visa (494 is for positions in designated regional areas, which excludes metropolitan Brisbane).

The 186 Employer Nomination Scheme is a permanent visa. The 482 may lead to the 186, and the 494 may lead to permanent residence through the 191 visa after holding the 494 for at least 3 years. Eligibility for each depends on your occupation, your employer and your circumstances, and the decision is always the Department's.

It depends on the visa and on whether the employer is already an approved or accredited sponsor. The Department of Home Affairs publishes current processing times for each subclass, and we will point you to the figure that applies to you at your consultation. No agent can influence or speed up how long the Department takes.

No. No migration agent can guarantee a visa outcome or a processing time. All decisions are made solely by the Department of Home Affairs. What we can do is prepare the sponsorship, nomination and visa applications carefully, make sure the evidence answers what the Department actually asks for, and tell you honestly if we think a pathway is not realistic.
